Learn more about our community health worker training program and how you can participate.

The valuable feedback and data from our community members during Phase 1 of CATERS guides Phase 2 of this research study as we continue to work with community and lay health educators to achieve the CATERS Objective

Develop culturally appropriate materials and methods for community health workers (CHWs), community health educators (CHEs), and lay health advisors (LHAs) to identify and refer Black Americans to cancer genetic research studies and clinical genetic counseling & risk assessment services.

Using the community café discussions and feedback from Community health Worker coalitions and interest groups at multiple levels (Integrated Health Network,  Community Health Worker Heal TableNCAP, and more), we developed a CHW training program and culturally appropriate materials for cancer genetics education, screening, and referral that engage the Black and African American community.
